The MayJah RayJah is an annual two-day reggae music festival held on the Hawaiian Islands.
This festival showcases famous Reggae Artists from around the world. The MayJah MayJah is open to music lovers of all ages & a popular event for local vendors. The festival's personality is very much free-flowing, mellow, colorful, & family-oriented.
The task was simple: Brand a Music Festival in its entirety.
Wristbands & Badges:
The first direct encounter with the branding will be the wristbands & badges. Each attender of the festival will be given a wristband at check-in while Staff and Artists will be given badges. This helps keep track of who should and should not be in specific areas.
I wanted to keep in mind that many people who participate in events keep wristbands as memorabilia. That being said, I wanted to create something that will be fun to wear during the festival, and exciting to take home when it's over.
Mayjah Rayjah App:
Navigating a festival can be difficult and overwhelming. This app will be an easy resource for the attenders to utilize. It will contain everything from the line up schedule and list of vendors, to the ability to pre-order merch, a map, and more. The straight forward and simple design will be easy to use.
Merchandise:
As with any big event, the MayJah RayJah will have a good selection of merchandise available for purchase. I created several items that go together, fit the aesthetic, and represent the festival well.
Solid merchandise options ensures that the attenders will not only purchase the products, but represent them in the future. This acts as part of the promotional branding for next year's festival.
Signage:
In order to navigate an event effectively, signage is crucial. Each individual piece reflects the brand and gives a clear message to the attenders. They are decorative but not overwhelming or distracting.
Promotional Posters:
Simple posters to be put up at local restaurants, transportation stations, grocery stores, etc. This engages local businesses and creates a sense of community for the festival.
Magazine Ad:
Although magazines aren't as popular, while traveling via airplane we are more apt to read the magazine in the seat back in front of us. Magazines also appeal to those of an older age range.
By utilizing illustration, the festival feels more engaging and creative to the viewer.
